Proximity

Proximity is a 2001 thriller, directed by Scott Ziehl, that features the story of an inmate who overhears a sinister plan by prison guards to kill one of his neighboring cellmates. William Conroy (Rob Lowe) is living the life of a typical prisoner until one day chatter from guards winds up being a preview of what they have planned for another cellmate -- a plan that winds up ending in murder. Afterwards, Conroy discovers that the murder was simply the first of many that the guards have in mind as a way to reduce the inmate population. Joining the guards are a victims' rights group who have been unhappy with the court system and are looking for various ways to exert their own form of punishment to those who they feel should have been put to death. Conroy does his best to bring the plan to light after he finds out that he is on the target list to be executed next. MORE [EDIT]
