Practical Magic

Practical Magic is a 1998 comedy starring Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman as supernaturally gifted sisters. After losing both their parents, Sally (Sandra Bullock) and Gillian Owens (Nicole Kidman) were raised by their aunts, Fran (Stockard Channing) and Jet (Dianne Wiest), who secretly happen to be witches. Sally and Gillian have inherited the family magical gifts as well as an ancient curse that dooms their love lives. Every man they love will suffer an early death. Each Owens sister rebels in their own way. Feisty Gillian has a taste for wild men, like Jimmy (Goran Visnjic) and practical Sally tries to craft a suburban life, but when her husband gets killed by a car, she returns to her aunts' house and tries to use her gift for potions to make beauty products. When Gillian's bad boy creates a dangerous situation, Officer Gary Hallet (Aidan Quinn) comes to the house to investigate and the Owens' secret life may be revealed, or maybe the family curse can finally be broken.
