The screenplay was written by Michael Addis and Tony Urban. Poor White Trash centers on the stories of lower-class youths Mike Bronco (Tony Denman) and Lynard "Lennie" Lake (Jacob Tierney). Lennie is somewhat less ambitious; he plans to go to trucking school and spend his life as a long-haul trucker.
