Paul's Case is a 1980 drama directed by Lamont Johnson and based on the short story of the same name by Willa Cather. Paul (Eric Roberts) lives a discontented and unfulfilled life in Pittsburgh. He fantasizes constantly about making a better life for himself, but with limited work opportunities, he does not see any way to achieve his dreams. His actor friend, Charlie (Gus Kaikkonen), gives Paul a glimpse into the glamorous and worldly life he imagines for himself, but for the time being, he works as an usher and feels as if life is cheating him.
