Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid: Special Edition

Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid directed by Sam Peckinpah and released to theatres in 1973, is a movie set in the year 1881. The movie stars James Coburn, Kris Kristofferson and also co-stars legendary cowboy Slim Pickens, and singer-songwriter Bob Dylan, who composed a number of songs for the movie's score; they released the album "Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid" the same year as the movie. A group of wealthy New Mexico cattle barons hires an aging Pat Garrett (James Coburn) as a lawman. His task is to wipe the Old West clean and make way for a new one. In order to do this, Sheriff Pat Garrett must betray his former cronies including Billy the Kid (Kris Kristofferson). But as old traditions die off, so do their identities. In 1988 Peckinpah released the director's cut of the movie, leading to a reevaluation, with many critics hailing it as a mistreated classic and one of the era's best films. MORE [EDIT]
