Paan Singh Tomar is a 2010 biographical film from India. The movie, directed by Tigmanshu Dhulia, chronicles the life of Paan Sing Tomar (Irfan Khan), a runner turned rebel. After growing up a poor kid in a small town, Tomar joins the Bengal Engineers, a branch of the Indian Army. Tomar's track talents are discovered and he goes on to compete in the steeplechase competitions at the Indian National Games, enjoying seven years of great success along the way. However, upon returning to his home town, he experiences prejudices and injustices. A disenchanted Tomar decides to give up his sport and his Army rank and join the rebels in the Chambal Valley of India, fighting against the government.
