Outlaws of the Plains

Outlaws of the Plains is a 1946 low-budget black-and-white western from director Sam Newfield. Nord Finner (Charles King) leads a gang of swindlers who try to take advantage of simple-minded aspiring swami Fuzzy Q. Jones (Al St. John) and con him into buying worthless land. The gang situate themselves in a room next door to Fuzzy and talk in mysterious voices through a tube in the adjoining wall to make Fuzzy believe that an Indian spirit, Standing Pine, is advising him to get in on a gold claim. Fuzzy then manages to persuade his fellow town's people to back him. However, when Fuzzy's good friend, Billy Carson (Buster Crabbe), arrives in town and hears Fuzzy's story about the spirit, he enlists the help of the local sheriff and tries to put all the members of the swindling gang in jail before they con clueless Fuzzy and all of his investors, most of the town, out of their cash.
