My Friend Flicka is a 1943 adaptation of the 1941 novel of the same name by Mary O'Hara. Ten-year-old Ken McLaughlin (Roddy McDowall) lives with his father, Rob (Preston Foster), and mother, Nell (Rita Johnson), on a struggling horse ranch in Wyoming. Ken has received poor marks in school and is careless around the ranch, so he knows that his father, who is a stern ex-soldier, is disappointed with him. Since Ken longs for a horse of his own, Nell persuades Rob to let him have one to teach him how to be more responsible. Much to his father's dismay, Ken chooses to adopt a young colt birthed by a wild, albino stallion. Rob tries to persude Ken to choose another horse, but Ken forms an instant connection with the colt and names her MORE [EDIT]
