Modern Times is the 1936 silent sensation written, directed and starring screen legend Charlie Chaplin in his infamous Tramp role in another poignant and hysterical adventure. Here, the Tramp is a factory worker whose job is to tighten bolts. He is first in a very fast-moving assembly line where is only task is to tighten two bolts as plates pass by. Later we see him on the moving belt, then sucked into the machinery, and then he passes through the giant gear wheels. He loses this job, is unemployed, end up in jail and has it pretty good there. Several times, after he gets out, he tries to get back in, it is the best housing and food that he has had.
