Minesweeper is a 1943 American war movie written by Edward T. Lowe Jr. and directed by William Berke. Shortly before World War Two, disgraced navy officer Lt. Richard Houston (Richard Arlen) deserts from the service when pressure from his gambling addiction becomes too great. When the war begins, he enlists back into the navy and is assigned to a minesweeper as a sniper and diver. To prove himself still a capable military man, Berke takes on the task of seeking out and learning how to destroy a new type of Japanese naval mine. Life on-board the minesweeper is hard and dangerous and Richard struggles not only to stay alive but also to maintain his secret identity. If the truth were to come out, it would mean a long stay in brig. MORE [EDIT]
