Master of Dragonard Hill is a 1987 film directed by Gerard Kikoine, based on the novel written by Rupert Gilchrist. The action takes place in 1747 on the island of St. Joseph, a British colony in the Caribbean. A group of ruthless aristocratic people led by the Governor (Dennis Folbigge) keep the island in tyranny and fear with the use of a terrible split-tongue whip called the dragonard. Things seem to change when a young Scot, Richard Abdee (Patrick Warburton), who is convicted for rebelling against the authorities, is sentenced to receive the terrifying punishment with the dragonard.
