Major League is a blockbuster 1989 comedy from director David S. Ward. Rachel Phelps (Margaret Whitten) hit the jackpot when she married the wealthy owner of the Cleveland Indians. When her new husband doesn't survive the honeymoon, she inherits the MLB franchise. Her plans don't include staying in Cleveland, though, and the ex-showgirl immediately makes plans to move the team to Miami. Since Cleveland won't let her out of her contract as long as attendance remains above 800,000, Rachel comes up with a devious plan. She'll hire the worst team in the history of baseball to drive attendance down.
