Machete is a 2010 action film directed by Robert Rodriguez and Ethan Maniquis. The film was originally conceived as a trailer that appeared between Rodriguez' Planet Terror and Quentin Tarantino's Death Proof in the Grindhouse release. Machete stars Danny Trejo as Machete, a Mexican renegade immigrant. During a rescue of a kidnapped girl, Rogelio Torrez (Steven Segal) kills Machete's wife and daughter and leaves Machete for dead. Michael Booth (Jeff Fahey) is a local businessman who reveals to Machete that Senator McLaughlin (Robert De Niro) has been kicking immigrants out of the country. However, as Machete is staking out McLaughlin, Booth's people shoot Machete and McLaughlin in order to paint McLaughlin as a sympathetic MORE [EDIT]
