Lost in Translation is a 2003 film directed by Sofia Coppola. Bill Murray stars as Bob Harris, an American actor in Tokyo, Japan working on a whiskey commercial. Also in Japan is Charlotte (Scarlett Johnansson), a recently married young woman accompanying her husband John (Giovanni Ribisi) on his job photographing a celebrity in Tokyo. Bob's marriage in America is strained and this time away from home is not helping. Charlotte is also having second thoughts about her marriage, realizing that John seems to care about his work more than her. Charlotte and Bob are both wandering Japan alone until in the middle of the night they meet each other in the hotel bar.
