L'Eclisse

L'Eclisse is a 1962 film directed by the famed Italian directed Michelangelo Antonioni as the third and final part of a trilogy that includes the films L'avventura and La notte. On July 10, 1961, Vittoria (Monica Vitti) decides to break off her torid affair with writer Riccardo (Francisco Rabal). She then quickly begins a summer fling with a lively young stockbroker named Piero (Alain Delon). Unfortunately Piero cares less for Vittoria than he does for his fancy house and prized possessions. His materialistic nature gets the best of them and their love becomes unsustainable. As their tumultuous relationship is unable to solidify itself, the two fail to meet each other on September 10, 1961 at the agreed upon spot a the corner of Viale del Ciclismo and Viale della Tecnica. Also starring Louis Seigner, Lilla Brignone, and Rosanna Rory, L'Eclisse was nominated for the Palme d'Or prize at the 1962 Cannes Film Festival. MORE [EDIT]
