L.A. Vice is a 1989 police-action drama written by Charles T. Kanganis and directed by Joseph Merhi. It is the sequel to the film L.A. Heat. The film reunites Kanganis and Merhi with L.A. Heat co-writer and star Lawrence Hilton-Jacobs (of Welcome Back Kotter fame). In L.A. Vice, Hilton-Jacobs revives his L.A. Heat character Jon Louroy Chance, a street smart detective who has now been transferred to Vice. Chance investigates a string of mysterious murders. When a millionaire's daughter (Bonnie Paine) and her boyfriend are kidnapped and held for an exorbitant ransom, Detective Jon Chance must save the day.
