Joan Baez: How Sweet the Sound is a 2009 American Masters documentary that explores the life of the legendary folk singer and human rights activist. Baez got her start as a teen when she performed at the Newport Folk Festival in 1959. She went on to a career spanning over 50 years, which brought her several Grammy nominations and world-wide acclaim. Filmmakers follow Joan during her 2009 world tour which she revisits Sarajevo, Bosnia, a place she first visited in during the 1993 siege. There is also footage of her visit with singer Steve Earle in Nashville, Tennessee, where they discuss the collaboration on her 2008 album.
