Jack the Ripper is a 1959 thriller centered around the mysterious slayings of Jack the Ripper of the late 19th century. Monty Berman and Robert S. Baker produced and directed the black and white film which stars Lee Patterson, Eddie Byrne, Betty McDowall, John Le Mesurier, and Ewen Solon. In 1888, the Whitechapel district of London is plagued by a vengeful killer who shamelessly leaves the lifeless bodies of his victims all around town, left and right. They call him Jack the Ripper, and his identity is yet to be revealed, although he is believed to be a doctor, or surgeon. Inspector O'Neill (Eddie Byrne) is handed the case and is pleased to hear a good friend, an American named Sam Lowry (Lee Patterson), will be joining him in his efforts to track down the murderer. Sam develops an attraction for a beautiful, modern woman named Anne (Betty McDowall) but unfortunately for him, her guardian Doctor Tranter does not approve. As the Lowry and O'Neill narrow in on their suspects, they realize Dr. Tranter is suspiciously absent every time a Ripper takes place.MORE[EDIT]
