Islander is a drama film that centers on fisherman Eben Cole (Tom Hildreth), who hauls in lobsters for a living. Eben is happily married to Cheryl (Amy Jo Johnson), and the couple has a daughter named Sara (Emma Ford). Tired of mainlanders coming into his territory, Eben decides to take things into his own hands. One day he confronts one of these mainlanders and his sternman, going as far as to fire a shot at a buoy. Tragedy strikes when the fisherman becomes startled from the shot, hitting the boat's throttle and not realizing his sternman's foot is stuck on a rope.
