Intimate Affairs is a 2002 comedy-drama directed by Alan Rudolph. When Faldo (Nick Nolte) becomes frustrated about sex, he hires a small research team of college men, Edgar (Dermot Mulroney), Sevy (Alan Cumming), Oscar (Jeremy Davies), and others to research the mysteries surrounding the subject of sex. He also includes two stenographers, Zoe (Robin Tunney) and Alice (Neve Campbell), who take notes regarding the serious discussions the men begin to have. The group is sequestered in a room, and at first the males are uncomfortable regarding the subject and then they begin to open up and talk about why people have affairs, and the nature of sex itself.
