In the Land of Women is a dramatic film directed by Jon Kasdan that centers on Carter Webb (Adam Brody), a young soft-core porn writer who leaves Los Angeles in a bid to reclaim himself after his starlet girlfriend Sofia (Elena Anaya) unceremoniously dumps him. He goes to Michigan in order to care for his mentally unstable hypochondriac of a grandmother Phyllis (Olympia Dukakis) while hoping to finally write the fictionalized biographical story that has been gathering dust.
