Hotel Rwanda is a semi-biographical film that depicts the tragic events of the Rwandan Genocide in 1994. The hatred between two opposing Rwandan people, the Tutsi people, and the Hutu people continues to intensify. At the center of it all is a Hutu hotel manager named Paul Rusesbagina (Don Cheadle). His situation is particularly difficult as he is married to a Tutsi woman named Tatiana (Sophie Okonedo). Some of the extremist Hutu people have their eyes on Paul and his marriage; they take great offense to it. Tatiana, Paul's wife, urges him to assuage extremists on both sides by bribing them with material goods. But the tensions between the people worsen, and civil war breaks out.
