Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone complex - The Laughing Man, written and directed by Kenji Kamiyama, is a 2005 compilation and rewriting of the Stand Alone Complex TV series. This anime film, starring the voices of Alison Mathews, Russell Roberts and David Kaye, is set in Japan in the year 2030 at a time where humans and technology have merged to form a race of people and cyborgs. The action revolves around a team of military and police detectives, known as the Public Security Section 9, who combine their skills in an attempt to bring down the genius cyber criminal the Laughing Man (Michael Adamthwaite).
