Ghar Ek Mandir is the 1984 hit film that inspired many a Hindi soap opera and movie subplot. The story involves a family who all live happy lives that are disrupted by their new daughter in law. This new lady of the manor then goes on to systematically and thoroughly wreck the once happy family life. The family concerned is that of Fro Prem (Shashi Kapoor), his wife Laxmi (Moushumi Chatterjee), Prem's two brothers played by Mithun and Raj Kiran, and their extended family in the form of Prem's friends played by Suresh Oberoi and Asrani.
