Gene Autry Collection: The Big Sombrero

Gene Autry Collection: The Big Sombrero is a classic cowboy adventure with a south-of-the-border flare. Like most of Gene Autry's personal productions, The Big Sombrero stars Gene Autry as "himself," a singing, fighting, horseback-riding hero of the West. The story begins when Gene's acquaintance, Jimmy Garland (Stephen Dunne), hires Gene as foreman of the Big Sombrero Ranch. Jimmy is engaged to the ranch owner, beautiful senorita Estrellita Estrada (Elena Verdugo). However, neither Gene nor Estrellita realize that Jimmy is in cahoots with con man Ben McBride (Gene Roth), who wants to evict the poor Mexican ranch hands and sell off the valuable ranch. Interspersed between the action and the romance are plenty of scenes of fiestas, pageantry and dancing, all filmed in full Cinecolor, which is a rarity in Gene Autry's work. The soundtrack includes seven songs performed by Gene, including "Oh, My Darlin' Clementine" and "I'm Thankful For Small Favors." MORE [EDIT]
