Gaslight is a dark and perplexing film surrounding a mercurial woman whose mind dances on the borders of insanity. This film is a 1944 remake by Gregor Cukor of a similar film released in 1940. Both versions are adaptations of a Patrick Hamilton play titled Gas Light. Paula (Ingrid Bergman) is a young, simple woman who enjoys spending her time getting together with friends and attending social functions. Her husband Gregory (Charles Boyer) is a seemingly dedicated man eager to provide for his new wife. But when the couple moves into a house in which a relative was murdered, Paula starts to lose any semblance of sound judgment and stability.
