Frontier Pony Express brings the Civil War west as Union and Confederate forces try to swing California to their side. Businessman Sen. Calhoun Lassister (Edward Keane) sees opportunity for himself as he plays both sides of the conflict, but he's unable to convince Pony Express Rider Roy Rogers (Roy Rogers) to take part in his plan. He's got forged messages he needs sent to Union and Confederate troops on the West Coast from Kansas City. Without Roy's help, Lassiter looks for another way and dupes Brett Langhone (Don Dillaway), a southern newspaper reporter, and his sister Ann (Lynne Roberts) into taking the dispatches that detail the movement of Union troops.
