Down Texas Way

Down Texas Way is a 1942 western directed by Howard Bretherton. In the film, two United States Marshals, Buck Roberts (Buck Jones) and Tim McCall (Tim McCoy) are heading to a small Texas town to visit their old friend and fellow US Marshal, Sandy Hopkins (Raymond Hatton). When they get to town, they are told that Sandy ran away because he murdered the wealthiest man in town, John Dodge (Jack Daley). Knowing that their friend could not have committed murder, they begin an investigation to find the truth and Sandy. The clues led them to local troublemaker Bart Logan (Harry Woods), who they believe is somehow trying to get his hands on John Dodge's fortune. Sandy finally returns to town and tells his friends that he was held captive, but before he could say too much, he was arrested and put in jail. There is a twist in their investigation when Stella (Lois Austin), Dodge's long-lost wife, comes into town making her the heir to her husbands wealth.
