Disconnected is a compelling 2008 documentary film about three real students, Mitchell Lundin, Caitlin Magnusson, and Andrew Tatge, all of whom chronicle their attempt to do the seemingly unthinkable: Survive in an environment nearly devoid of technology. Andrew, Mitchell, and Caitlin were not professional actors but real college students who recorded their experiences during a grand social experiment. They would use no electronic mail, social networking sites, or other popular World Wide Web favorites. The three attended Carleton College in the modest Midwestern town of Northfield in southeastern Minnesota. Mitchell (class of 2008) and his two friends (class of 2009) take you on a one-hour journey through their efforts to cope with a tech free crash diet. Disconnected was a class project supervised by Carleton faculty member Melody Gilbert, a filmmaker in her own right.
