Defending Your Life

Defending Your Life is a comedy about a man who dies, enters the afterlife, and is forced to explain why he chose to live his life the way he did.. On his birthday, Daniel Miller (Albert Brooks) is killed in an auto accident in Los Angeles. When he wakes up he is in Judgment City, a waiting area where those who have recently perished are judged on their lives. While there, Daniel meets and falls in love with Julia (Meryl Streep), an immensely decent woman who has clearly lived a far better life than Daniel. He also meets Bob Diamond (Rip Torn), a lawyer who will be representing Daniel before two judges. As Bob tells him, if the judges decide that Daniel has lived a good life and conquered his fears, he will be allowed to pass onto a higher level of existence. If not, he will be reincarnated and sent back to Earth. Will Daniel succeed in convincing his judges of his essential goodness or is he doomed to return to Earth for a second try? MORE [EDIT]
