Dark Victory

Dark Victory is a classic 1939 drama starring Bette Davis as a spoiled socialite facing a dire disease. Judith Traherne (Bette Davis) usually only has to worry about having fun. Whether arguing with horse trainer Michael O'Leary (Humphrey Bogart) or going to nightclubs with Alec (Ronald Reagan), Judith likes to live to the fullest. When she begins to suffer fainting spells and recurring headaches, she seeks the help of Dr. Frederick Steele (George Brent) expecting a diagnosis of too much fun. Instead, he finds a brain tumor. After an operation, the doctor realizes that the tumor will inevitably return and kill Judith. At first, he and Judith's faithful secretary and confidante, Ann (Geraldine Fitzgerald), hide the dire news from her, but eventually Judith faces the truth of her situation. She reacts with risky abandon, but falls in love with Dr. Steele. She decides to use whatever time she has left in less frivolous pursuits. MORE [EDIT]
