Darby O'Gill and the Little People

Darby O'Gill and the Little People is a family fantasy film directed by Robert Stevenson for Walt Disney Productions that centers on a crafty Irishman as he clashes and battles with some wily leprechauns on a Lord's estate in Ireland. A caretaker of Lord Fitzpatrick's )Walter Fitzgerald) estate, Darby O'Gill (Albert Sharpe) has spent most of his life taking care of the grounds and waging a competitive tiff with the leprechauns, led by King Brian Connors (Jimmy O'Dea). When Darby finds himself replaced by the much younger Michael McBride (Sean Connery), King Brian keeps trying to trap Darby in the fairy mountain, Knocknasheega. When he manages to outsmart the leprechaun king, King Brian begrudgingly gives Darby four wishes to use whenever he wants. His success over the leprechauns is short lived as his daughter Katie (Janet Munro) is nearly killed while trying to catch a mystical shape shifting Pooka and Michael is fighting to keep both Katie's interest and his job against the town bully, Pony Sugrue (Kieron Moore).
