Come See the Paradise is a 1990 historic drama film, written and directed by Alan Parker. Come See the Paradise is the story of Jack McGurn (Dennis Quaid), a man who moves to Los Angeles in 1936 and gets a job in a movie theatre in Little Tokyo. Trouble comes knocking when Jack finds himself falling in love with his boss’s daughter, Lily Kawamura. Lily’s father fires Jack and forbids him from ever seeing Lily again. Their love is too strong by this point, however, so the two run off to Seattle. But the idyllic days of their young romance are short-lived when war breaks out and authorities decide that Japanese immigrants must be segregated into camps to live as war prisoners.
