Closer, written by Patrick Marber and based upon his award-winning play of the same name, is a movie directed by legendary filmmaker Mike Nichols. The film follows the lives of four intertwined individuals played by some of Hollywood’s leading actors: Julia Roberts, Jude Law, Natalie Portman, and Clive Owen. Dan (Jude Law) is a struggling writing getting by through writing obituaries for the local paper. Through a wild chance encounter, Dan meets Alice (Natalie Portman), and the two quickly fall into an intense relationship, catapulting Dan back into his novel career.
