Choose Me

Choose Me is a quirky, independent romantic comedy released in 1984 and directed by Alan Rudolph. Mickey (Keith Carradine) is a psychiatric patient who is adept at hiding his mental problems - at least for a while. When he escapes the hospital, Mickey finds his way into town, where he encounters a wide variety of colorful people and impacts their lives in unusual and entertaining ways. Entrepreneur Eve (Lesley Ann Warren), poet Pearl (Rae Dawn Chong), and radio personality Dr. Nancy Love (Genevieve Bujold) are all starving for affection but are sabotaging themselves without knowing it. Needy, temperamental and volatile, each woman is disarmed by Mickey's candor and unorthodox approach to life. Choose Me is eccentric, ironic, simultaneously hilarious and moving. The film paints honest portraits of flawed, very human characters to whom viewers will easily relate.
