Cheaper by the Dozen is the original 1950 version of the "large brood" family comedy, with a pair of inventive parents raising 12 children. Based on the real-life experiences of the Gilbreth family, the movie follows their move from Rhode Island to New Jersey during the early part of the 20th century. The father, Frank (Clifton Webb, "Laura") uses his efficiency expertise to run the household, such as instructing the kids on how to save time while showering. His lovely wife Lillian (Myrna Loy, Nora of the classic "The Thin Man" series) provides a patient, loving contrast to her well-meaning husband. Unlike the recent, more slapstick version with Steve Martin, Director Walter Lang ("King and I") MORE [EDIT]
