Carol's Journey

Carol's Journey is a 2002 Spanish drama written and directed by Imanol Uribe. The film is based on a novel titled 'A boca de noche' by ''ngel Garc''a Rold''n. At the height of the Spanish Civil war, twelve-year-old Spanish-American, Carol (Clara Lago), travels with her mother, Aurora (Maria Barranco), to the Spanish village of her birth. Aurora is dying, and she wants her daughter brought up by her family. To make matters worse, Carol's father, Robert (Ben Temple), is missing. Robert has fighting against Franco and was last seen outside of Madrid. When the war ends, his status as being against the new regime creates problems for reuniting with his family. Carol and Aurora settle in the mother's home village. The small rural Spanish village is a world away from her home in New York. Carol finds it difficult to adjust to the rhythms of her new life.
