Breaking Upwards follows the lives of two twenty-something New York City professionals who, after four years together, decide to end their relationship. They view their growing co-dependency of one another as the main reason to split up, but can not quite bring themselves to part completely. The couple decides to break up in tiny increments instead of doing it all at once. They experiment with dating other people, taking days off from each other and attempt to wean themselves from their co-dependency of each other. At first, the plan works. Then personal feelings creep in and cause the inevitable emotional problems that neither of them considered.
