Birds of America takes a lighthearted look at a family of odd birds and the complicated ties between brothers and sisters. Older brother Morrie (Matthew Perry) raised his younger siblings, Jay (Ben Foster) and Ida (Ginnifer Goodwin), after their parents' death. Both the depressed Jay and promiscuous Ida have created plenty of problems for ever-responsible university professor Morrie, including tension with his wife Betty (Lauren Graham). Their antics have also been noticed by his boss Paul (Gary Wilmes), who happens to live next door with his uptight wife Laura (Hillary Swank).
