Beyond the Poseidon Adventure

Beyond the Poseidon Adventure is a 1979 adventure sequel to the capsized ship drama. After the survivors have been saved from the original Poseidon story, Captain Mike Turner (Michael Caine) and his tugboat crew of second mate Wilbur Hubbard (Karl Malden) and Celeste Whitman (Sally Field), who is catching a ride to Africa. Facing repossession of his boat, Turner wants to claim the salvage rights on the Poseidon. But, as they prepare to enter the wreck, Dr. Stefan Svevo (Telly Savalas) and his crew of paramedics arrive, claiming to be in search of any remaining survivors. Both teams start their exploration, finding a few remaining passengers: cranky Frank Mezzetti (Peter Boyle), the ship's nurse Gina Rowe (Shirley Jones), the still-drunk Tex Hopkins (Slim Pickens) and the blind Harold Meredith (Jack Warden) and his wife, Hannah (Shirley Knight). Soon, Svevo makes his true intentions clear, he needs to locate an arsenal of weapons including plutonium stored on the ship for his terrorist group, and will kill any inconvenient witnesses.
