Beach Red

Beach Red is a dramatic war film directed by Cornel Wilde that follows the landing and ultimate battle between the U.S. Marine Corps and the Japanese as they fight to gain control of a Japanese held island in the Pacific. With distinct views from four soldiers, Beach Red focuses on the daily struggle it was to survive in a foreign land as they watched their friends taken down in the gunfire from a well-fortified camp. Captain MacDonald Cornel Wilde) had been a lawyer before sent overseas, who hopes to keep his men and himself alive in order to get back home to their families. Sergeant Honeywell (Rip Torn) on the other hand does not care what he does in the war, whether it’s through gun fights and torture, so long as he wins. Private Egan (Burr DeBenning) is an uneducated young soldier who finds the military offers a better life than what he would have had if he never joined. Lastly, Private Cliff (Patrick Wolfe) wants to return home to a normal life, not quite understanding how so many people could be killed.
