Barbie as Rapunzel

Barbie as Rapunzel is the 2002 straight to DVD feature length computer animated film that combines the world of the classic doll Barbie with the Brothers Grimm fairy tale Rapunzel, and is available from Lions Gate Films. It features the voice talent of Kelly Sheridan as Barbie Rapunzel and veteran actress Anjelica Huston as Gothel. It is the 2nd of 20 animated Barbie films to be released since 2001 (most of which feature Kelly Sheridan as Barbie). The story is book-ended by Barbie telling her younger sister Kelly a story to giver her encouragement in her painting abilities. Rapunzel believes that she is an orphan and must be a loyal servant to the witch Gothel, who claims she rescued her as an infant. Rapunzel's only joy in life is painting, but when Gothel takes that away from her, Rapunzel sneaks out and meets Prince Stephan. She is instantly smittened with the young handsome prince, but is also troubled to hear that the two neighboring kingdoms' feud is plaguing the villagers. Upon returning, Rapunzel is caught by Gothel and locked in a tower in which there is no escape; that is until Rapunzel finds a magic hairbrush that transforms into a paintbrush. She learns that anything she paints comes to life. It is up to Rapunzel to save the feuding kingdoms, stop the wicked Gothel, and find the truth behind where she comes from. MORE [EDIT]
