Assault on Precinct 13

Assault on Precinct 13 is a 2005 remake of the 1976 crime thriller about a Detroit police station under siege. On New Year's Eve, bad weather forces a police van to leave dangerous criminal Marion Bishop (Laurence Fishburne), and an assortment of prisoners including junkie Beck (John Leguizamo), at a police station overnight. The troubled Sgt. Jake Roenick (Ethan Hawke) and retiring Sgt. Jasper O'Shea (Brian Dennehy) are on duty, along with police secretary Iris Ferry (Drea de Matteo) and psychologist Dr. Alex Sabian (Maria Bello). Suddenly gunshots break the windows from unknown assailants. Outnumbered and confused, the officers cannot protect the station by themselves or call for help. They decide to use the prisoners to help fend off the attack, knowing that they are unleashing an equally dangerous element inside the station. Director Jean-Francois Richet keeps the focus on the characters as they feel the pressure of a life-and-death situation in this urban drama. MORE [EDIT]
