Antares

Antares is a 2004 Austrian drama directed by Gotz Spielmann. The film weaves three loves stories into a complex yet realistic tapestry of modern European love. The film opens with a dramatic taxi cab accident that sends Tomasz (Andreas Patton), a self obsessed clothing salesman, to the hospital where he meets Eva (Petra Morze), a married nurse. The affair awakens Eva's sensuality, allowing her to escape her passionless suburban marriage to the responsible, yet boring Alfred (Hary Prinz). Meanwhile, jealous cashier Sonja (Susanne Wuest) works to entrap philandering boyfriend Marco (Dennis Cubic) into a relationship. Marco, for his part, is having an affair with Nicole whose bad tempered and violent ex-husband Alec (Andreas Kiendl) is trying to persuade her that he would be the perfect husband. As the film moves toward its inexorable conclusion, conflict erupts as lies are exposed and the stories namesake, Antares, famed for its effect on human passion, takes its toll. MORE [EDIT]
