Anand Math

Anand Math is an Indian movie made on patriotism and is based on the well-known Bengali novel, Anandamath, written by Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay. The story dates back to 1700s, the time when India was ruled by the British Kingdom. The film portrays the importance of the Sanyasi Rebellion which was initiated by Gurudev Satyananda (Prithviraj Kapoor). During this time, one of the affluent landlords, Mahendra Singh (Bharat Bhushan), is forced to vacate his ancestral home due to the cruelties of the British Government. He wanders about with his family and eventually, his wife and child are separated from him. He is then saved by the Sanyasis of Anand Math, which is formed by Gurudev Satyananda. The Sanyasis help Mahendra to reunite with his family and he slowly learns about the motive of the Sanyasis and joins with them and changes into a Sanyasi to fight against the British Rule. Jivananda & Bhavananda (Pradeep & Ajit) are the two valiant soldiers of Gurudev Satyananda. During that time, women were not allowed to fight in the battle field but Gurudev Satyananda allows Narinanda (Geeta Bali), to support her husband, Jiavananda, in the battle. The film instigates the true feelings of patriotism and talks about the situation of India during the British Rule. MORE [EDIT]
