An Englishman in New York is a 2008 biographical drama about a gay English writer who comes to New York for the latter years of his life. Directed by Richard Laxton and written by Brian Fillis, this film is a follow-up to "The Naked Civil Servant" which is about the earlier years of his life. In this movie, Quentin Crisp (John Hurt) enters high society in Manhattan in the 1980s and falls in love with the acceptance of gays in the city after living in England for so many years. His agent, Connie Clawson (Swoosie Kurtz), gets him acclaim and work doing lectures on How to Be Happy and film reviews.
