All In A Night's Work

All in a Night's Work, directed by Joseph Anthony, is a 1961 romantic comedy starring Dean Martin as a randy playboy trying to make a go of running a newspaper. Tony Ryder (Dean Martin) inherits a fortune, including a newspaper and plenty of trouble, when his uncle dies under mysterious circumstances. Reports indicate an attractive woman was seen running from the old man's hotel room around the time he died, wearing nothing but a towel. Tony, encouraged by the board to investigate, discovers that the lady in question is Katie Robbins (Shirley MacLaine), who works in the newspaper's research department. Katie claims she entered the room accidentally, but the stodgy board of directors doubt her story and encourage Tony to keep her silent on the matter to avoid scandal. Tony finds himself in over his head as he deals with inquisitive cops, irate board members, Katie's well-meaning boyfriend, and Katie herself.
