After Hours is a 1985 pitch-black, absurdist comedy about one crazy night in New York City. Paul Hackett (Griffin Dunne) is a bored office worker sitting in a diner when he strikes up a conversation with a pretty young woman, Marcy (Patricia Arquette). She gives him her number, and when he calls later, she invites him over to her place. On the cab ride there the $20 bill he places in the ashtray flies out the window. When the taxi stops at Marcy's place, Paul explains to the driver that the money that blew out of the window was all he had, so the cabdriver speeds off.
