Affliction is a 1998 drama directed by Paul Schrader. Based on a novel of the same name by Russell Banks, the film follows Wade Whitehouse (Nick Nolte), a small town New Hampshire sheriff. Wade is a broken man teetering on the edge of self-destruction.
