Aeon Flux is the movie adaptation of the cartoon sci-fi series created by Peter Chung, starring Charlize Theron as the assassin Aeon Flux, a member of the rebel organization the Monicans. The Monicans communicate telepathically, and are led by The Handler (Frances McDormand). After a virus wipes out 99% of Earth, the survivors live in Bregna, a walled city run by scientists where the residents have haunting dreams and disappear. Aeon is given the mission to kill Bregna's leader Trevor Goodchild, but discovers she is part of a secret coup. She questions the motivations and the origins of Bregna, and discovers that the people of Bregna are clones, recycled from the DNA of the dead, retaining some of the memories of the previous clones.
